I help keep five specialty clinics at Penn Dental Medicine running. On a normal day that’s over 1,000 instruments, four implant systems, and whoever comes up to the window needing something right now. On my own time I plan events for my parish and build things with AI.

01About

About me

I’ve worked at Penn Dental Medicine since May 2023. I help over 200 dental students, 30 residents, and 30 faculty every day across morning and afternoon clinics. The job is mostly getting the right instruments and implant parts to the right chair on time. It also takes careful attention to money and records: orders, vendor payments, and repair claims with Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Astra Tech, and 3i Biomet.

Most of what I’ve improved there started with something that kept going wrong. Urgent requests needed to come back fast, so I built a pre-staging system around the sterilizer cycles. Closing looked different depending on who closed, so I wrote a checklist. And the inventory process that cut our materials spending by 40% was my idea. I developed it and put it in place.

Before Penn I ran a delivery warehouse for The Rounds, usually as the only person on site. Outside of work I plan events for my parish, sing in a choir, and have been making music for over eleven years. I’m finishing my bachelor’s at Penn while working full time.

Where I’ve worked

Instrument Management & Customer Service Specialist

Penn Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania

May 2023 to present

Philadelphia, PA

  • Keep five specialty clinics supplied for morning and afternoon sessions. That’s over 1,000 instruments a day, plus implant kits from four manufacturers.
  • Built a pre-staging system around sterilizer cycle times. Urgent requests are back in 15 minutes.
  • Came up with and developed a new inventory process for the main clinic and the Shils clinic. It cut the dispensing department’s quarterly materials spending by 40%.
  • Handle purchase orders, vendor payments, and repair claims with the implant companies, and keep track of what we spend.
  • Wrote the closing checklist the sterilization team uses every day, plus onboarding and setup guides for things people used to just pass along by word of mouth.
  • Train new staff on all five clinics and show each new class of students how the window works.
  • Set up and break down the clinics for licensing exams twice a year.
  • Check the oxygen tanks and keep the crash carts stocked and in date.
  • Built a web app for the prosthodontics clinic that compares impression materials (see Things I’ve built).

  • Wrote the SOPs we used across the Philadelphia market and trained new hires on them.
  • Worked in Asana, Airtable, Slack, OnFleet, and Google Drive every day.

Young Adults Committee and Men's Group (volunteer)

Things I’ve built

I use AI every day, mostly Claude, to build things I couldn’t have built a year ago. I come up with the idea and decide how it should work. The AI writes a lot of the code, and I test it and keep going until it actually works. Some of these are finished. A couple I stopped once the prototype worked.

01 Intrepid Snake, but with power-ups, customizable skins, and an endless classy jazz soundtrack that never repeats. It was my idea, and I built and launched the first version myself on Fly.io. A friend who’s an engineer joined after launch, added the tests and tooling, and now hosts the main version on his server. Browser game
02 Impression Material Finder Compares dental impression materials based on how our prosthodontics clinic actually works. I built it with the clinic’s dental assistant. You pick what matters for a case, like set time, cost, or wet fields, and it ranks the options. The prototype works, and I stopped there. The demo covers impression materials, burs, and cements on a sample catalog, and you can try it yourself. Prototype demo
03 Saint Party RSVPs and costume assignments for an All Saints’ Eve party on October 31, 2026, for 30 to 60 guests. Everyone gets a saint to dress as and two other saints to find during the night, and no saint goes to two people. I load-tested it with 80 fake guests to make sure that held. It started as a Google Sheet and ended up as a small Node and SQLite app. The demo runs the real code in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your device. Working demo
04 Pilgrim Fares Flight deal alerts I built for my dad, focused on Catholic pilgrimage sites. It scores fares on price, stops, airline, and whether the trip lands on a feast day. Next.js, Supabase, and the Anthropic API. He’s the only user. The demo uses made-up fares so you can try the scoring and the feast calendar. Working demo
04Events

Events I’ve run

Most of these were for the young adults and men’s groups at my parish. I usually end up doing the whole thing, from the plan to the printed materials.

Also: signs and print materials for an electronic music night, a quick-reference guide and QR flyer for a volunteer day, and a parish listening session on communion and belonging on November 8.
